Okay, so the other day at school, the volleyball coach asked me to come up with some fun volleyball drills for our high school team. They were getting a little bored with the same old routine, and he wanted to spice things up. I love volleyball, so I was totally up for the challenge!

Brainstorming and Planning
First, I sat down and thought about what makes volleyball fun. It’s all about teamwork, quick reactions, and feeling that awesome spike, right? I wanted to create games that would focus on these elements but in a less serious way.
I grabbed my notebook and started jotting down ideas. I also remembered some fun drills we did back when I first started playing, and mixed those in with some new concepts.
The Fun Games!
-
“Crazy Ball” – This one is super simple. We divided the team into two, like a regular game. But, here’s the twist: every time the ball goes over the net, the players have to rotate one position * looks messy, but it can make them to be ready to respond anywhere on the court.
-
“Target Practice” – I set up some cones and hoops in different areas of the opposing court. Teams get points for successfully hitting the ball into those * helps build accuracy and control.
-
“No-Look Pass”* must pass the ball without looking the * main thing I wanted here was to help teammates better their sense of teamwork.
Putting it into Action
The next day at practice, I explained the games to the team. They were a little hesitant at first, especially with the “Crazy Ball” rotation, but once they got going, they loved it! There was so much laughter and energy. Even the coach was smiling.

The Results!
After a few rounds of each game, I could see a difference. The players were more engaged, communicating better, and definitely having more fun. They were diving for balls they might not have bothered with before and were more strategic about their hits.
I think my volleyball games are pretty good to make players build their skills without felling borning.
