Today I messed around with a game called “AVP,” which is apparently some kind of volleyball game. Honestly, I was pretty clueless about it at first. I just heard some friends talking about it and figured, why not give it a try?

So, I started by looking it up online. Turns out, “AVP” stands for “Association of Volleyball Professionals.” Who knew? I watched a few videos of people playing and it looked kind of intense. These players are really good, jumping and diving all over the place.
Getting Started
After a bit of research, I downloaded the game onto my console. I don’t know, I must have had a brain fart or something. The initial setup was pretty straightforward, though. I created a character, which was kind of fun. You can customize their look and all that jazz. I made mine look as ridiculous as possible, just for laughs.
Then came the actual gameplay. Man, was I bad at first! I tried to hit the ball, but I kept missing. Or I’d hit it out of bounds. It was embarrassing, really. My character was just flailing around like a fish out of water.
Practice Makes Perfect (Kind Of)
- Spent hours just practicing the basic moves.
- Figured out how to serve properly, finally.
- Still struggled with receiving, though.
I spent a good few hours just practicing. I started with the tutorials, which were actually pretty helpful. They walked me through the basic moves, like serving, setting, and spiking. Serving was probably the easiest to pick up. I figured out that if I timed my button press just right, I could get a pretty decent serve going.
Receiving the ball was a whole other story. I just couldn’t seem to get the hang of it. I’d either be too early or too late, and the ball would just fly past me. I kept at it, though, and eventually, I started to get a little better. I’m still not great, mind you, but at least I’m not completely useless anymore.
Playing Against Others
After feeling slightly more confident, I decided to try playing against other people online. Big mistake. Huge. I got absolutely destroyed. These guys were so much better than me. They were spiking the ball like crazy, and I just couldn’t keep up. It was pretty demoralizing, to be honest.

But hey, I’m not one to give up easily. I kept playing, and I even managed to win a few matches. It felt pretty good, I have to admit. There’s something really satisfying about finally landing a good spike and scoring a point.
All in all, I had a pretty fun time playing AVP. It’s definitely a challenging game, but it’s also really rewarding when you start to get the hang of it. I’m still not very good, but I’m definitely improving. Maybe one day I’ll even be able to compete with those online pros. Who knows? For now, though, I’m just happy to be able to play a few matches without completely embarrassing myself. And that, my friends, is a win in my book. This is how I got this going.
