Okay, so I’ve been meaning to tell y’all about this little adventure I had. It all started when I got my hands on this tequila called Lobos 1707. Yeah, the one by LeBron James. I’d heard some buzz about it and figured, why not give it a shot? So, I started my quest to find this stuff.

First off, I hit up the usual spots around here, you know, the big chain stores like Total Wine & More and BevMo!. I figured they’d have it for sure. I went in, asked around, but no luck. I guess it is not that popular now. Strike one.
Then I thought, maybe I should check out some local places. I remembered there were a few smaller liquor stores in Long Beach that I’d driven past but never really checked out. So, I started with this place called EJN Liquor Store and Mini Mart. Walked in, and it was a total shot in the dark. But guess what? They didn’t have it either. I mean, they had tons of other stuff, but not what I was looking for. Another miss.
Next up, I tried a couple more spots that some folks recommended on Yelp. I went to Corked and then Liquor Land. Same story. Lots of variety, but still no Lobos 1707. I was starting to think this tequila was some kind of myth or something.
Feeling a bit discouraged, I decided to check out one last place, Emilio’s Beverage Warehouse. It was a bit out of the way, but I figured it was worth a shot. I went in, and bam, there it was! Finally! I felt like I’d struck gold. I grabbed a bottle and headed home, pretty excited to finally try it.
Now, let’s talk about the tequila itself. The bottle looked cool, and from what I read, it’s supposed to be additive-free and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry wine barrels. Sounds fancy, right? When I tried it, man, it was something else. I could taste some sweet tobacco, a bit of cinnamon, and some peppery notes. It also had this dried date and caramel thing going on, with a hint of citrus. It was like a mix of flavors I’d never had in a tequila before. Seriously, it was deep and smooth.
- Taste Notes:
- Sweet tobacco
- Smoked cinnamon
- Green peppercorn
- Dried date
- Caramel
- Dried citrus peels
- Wood smoke
It was like, I finally got what the hype was all about. It’s definitely a sipping tequila, not something you’d just throw back in a shot. It had this aged, almost soulful taste that made it stand out. I guess that’s why they call it “young tequila with an old soul.”

So, yeah, that was my little journey to find and try Lobos 1707. It took a bit of hunting, but it was totally worth it. I can see why LeBron put his name on this stuff. It’s pretty damn good. If you’re into tequila, I’d say give it a try. Just be prepared to maybe do a little searching to find it!
And that’s the story, folks. It was a fun little hunt, and I ended up discovering a new favorite. Cheers!
