Alright, so today I wanted to share my little adventure trying to find a good spot for some hoops action in Glen Mills. You know, sometimes you just get that itch to shoot some baskets, but finding a decent court can be a real pain.

So, I started my quest. First thing I did was ask around. Talked to a few buddies, checked out some local community centers. No dice. Nobody seemed to know any good places that I could just do some BYO basketball with my friend.
I decided to search online and found that some of the basketball courts in Glen Mills are not BYO and there is a membership system. I am just looking for someplace where I can play with my friends at the weekends without any application.
Feeling a bit stuck, I thought, “Why not just take a drive around?” Yeah, it sounds a bit old school, but I figured maybe I’d stumble upon some hidden gem. So, I hopped in my car and started cruising around Glen Mills. I checked out some parks, a couple of schools after hours – still nothing that really fit the bill. Most places were either locked up or had those annoying double rims that mess up your shot.
Here’s a list of what I tried:
- Asked around friends
- Searched online
- Drove around local parks and schools
But then, I remembered there’s this sports complex not too far from my place. I had only ever been there to play some basketball before, so I thought, “Might as well give it a shot.”
I drove over, and wouldn’t you know it, they had a couple of open courts! And not just any courts, but some good quality ones. No membership required, just a small fee to get in. It is not exactly a BYO, but I can just pay it once at the weekend. Finally, a place to play some BYO basketball!

So, I called up my friend, grabbed my ball, and we headed over. We ended up playing for a good couple of hours. It was great to finally get some shots up without any hassle. I even tried to make some new friends there to join us!
Lesson learned?
Sometimes, the best way to find what you’re looking for is to just explore a bit. And don’t give up, even if it takes a little longer than you expected. Keep trying new things!
This whole experience reminded me that sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. And hey, I found a new go-to spot for basketball, so that’s a win in my book! And this is what I want to share with you all today!
