Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this mock draft thing for the Dallas Cowboys, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I started by reading up on what a mock draft actually is. Turns out, it’s like a pretend draft where you try to guess who each team will pick in the real NFL Draft. You gotta look at what each team needs, who the best players are, and try to match them up. It’s like a big puzzle.

First thing I did was check out what the experts were saying about the Cowboys’ needs. And boy, do they have needs. Seems like they gotta rebuild their offensive line, find a new running back, and get some more help at receiver, linebacker, and defensive tackle. Basically, they need help all over the place. So, I figured whoever is the best player available when it’s their turn to pick at number 24 is probably gonna be someone they need.
Then, I jumped into a seven-round mock draft simulator online. Seven rounds! That’s a lot of picks to make. I spent hours going through each round, looking at the available players, and trying to decide who the Cowboys should take. It was tough, man. There were so many good players, and it was hard to know who would still be there when it was the Cowboys’ turn.
For the first round, there was this offensive tackle that everyone was talking about. I thought, “Yeah, that’s gotta be the guy.” But then I started thinking, maybe they need a linebacker more? It was a real struggle to decide.
I went back and forth for a while, changing my mind a bunch of times. Finally, I just took a deep breath and went with my gut. I picked the offensive tackle. It just felt right.
Here’s how the rest of the draft went down:
- Round 2: I grabbed a running back. Seemed like a good time to snag one since they need to replace their old one.
- Round 3: Went with a wide receiver. You can never have too many of those guys, right?
- Round 4: Finally got a linebacker. Hope he can tackle!
- Round 5: Picked up a defensive tackle. They need help there too.
- Round 6 and 7: Honestly, by this point, I was just picking guys that looked good on paper. It’s hard to know who’s gonna be a star in the later rounds.
After I finished, I felt pretty good about my picks. I think I addressed most of the Cowboys’ needs, and hopefully, I picked some guys who can actually play. Of course, I’m no expert, so who knows if I’m right. But hey, it was fun to play pretend general manager for a day. I gotta say, this whole mock draft thing is pretty addictive. I might have to do another one soon!
I saved the results of my mock draft, so I can look back and see how I did after the real draft happens. It’ll be interesting to see if I got any of the picks right. Maybe I have a future in this whole scouting thing. Or maybe I’ll just stick to watching the games. Either way, it was a fun experiment!

I will do it again if I have time.
