So, last weekend I got into this whole volleyball thing, and let me tell you, it was a ride. I’ve always been curious about it, seeing those intense matches on TV and all, but never really tried it myself. Well, that changed.

First off, I rounded up some friends who were also up for some fun. None of us were pros, just a bunch of regular folks looking to have a good time. We headed over to the local park where they have a couple of decent volleyball nets set up. The weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot, just right for some outdoor action.
Getting Started
We divided ourselves into two teams. I’m not gonna lie, the team picking was a bit chaotic, but we eventually got it sorted. We decided on a simple six-on-six format because, well, that’s what we saw on TV. We flipped a coin to see who would serve first, and just like that, we were ready to go.
The First Game
The first few minutes were a mess. Balls flying everywhere, people running into each other, and a whole lot of missed serves. But hey, we were having a blast. Slowly but surely, we started to get the hang of it. I even managed to make a few decent serves, which was a surprise to everyone, including myself.
- Serve: I focused on just getting the ball over the net. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked.
- Bump: This was the hardest part for me. I kept hitting the ball with my wrists instead of my forearms. Ouch.
- Set: I tried to set the ball a few times, but it usually ended up going in a completely different direction.
- Spike: Surprisingly, I landed a couple of spikes. It felt amazing to slam the ball down, even if it wasn’t very powerful.
Getting Better
As the day went on, we started to get better. Our rallies became longer, and we even had some pretty intense moments. I remember one point where I dove for a ball and actually saved it. I felt like a total pro, even though I probably looked more like a beached whale. We were laughing, sweating, and just enjoying the game. A few people stopped by and watched us play, they looked very interested.
Wrapping Up
We played for a couple of hours until we were all completely exhausted. In the end, it didn’t really matter who won or lost. We had so much fun that we decided to make it a regular thing. I checked some videos online and it had a lot of views, which is amazing. I also found some interesting videos about national championship between Penn State and Louisville, and some Olympic Games videos on volleyball.
All in all, it was a fantastic day. I discovered a new sport that I actually enjoy, and I got to spend quality time with my friends. I can’t wait for our next volleyball session. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get good enough to join a league someday. Or not. Either way, we’re gonna have a good time.
