Okay, so, I decided to play some volleyball today. It’s been a while, but I figured, why not? I mean, it’s a fun game, right?

First off, I had to find a court. Luckily, there’s a park nearby with a decent net. I gathered a few friends, some who play regularly and some, like me, who are a bit rusty. We split into teams, trying to make it somewhat even.
We started with the basics. I practiced my serves, trying to get them over the net consistently. Let me tell you, it’s harder than it looks when you haven’t played in a while! Some went too short, some went too long, but eventually, I got the hang of it.
Then came the passing. We did some drills, trying to get the ball to each other without it hitting the ground. My forearms started to sting a bit, but it’s all part of the fun, I guess. I focused on getting under the ball and using my legs to push it up. It’s all about that form, you know?
After that, we tried some setting. This one’s a bit trickier for me. Getting that perfect arc to set up a spike is no easy feat. I practiced tossing the ball up, trying to control the height and direction. It took a few tries, but I managed to get a few decent sets in.
- Serving: Get the ball over the net and within bounds.
- Passing: Use your forearms to control the ball and pass it to a teammate.
- Setting: Toss the ball up in an arc to set up a spike.
We played a few games, and man, it was a workout! Running around, diving for the ball, jumping to block—it’s a lot more intense than it looks on TV. My legs were burning, my arms were sore, but it was so much fun.
We kept score, but honestly, it didn’t really matter who won. We were all just having a good time. There were some epic rallies, some crazy saves, and a lot of laughs. We decided to call it a day after a few hours. We were all pretty exhausted, but it was a good kind of tired.

Some basic strategy in mind
I even tried to use some strategies I remember from back in the day. Positioning myself to cover the most ground, calling for the ball when I was in a good spot, and trying to anticipate where the other team was going to hit it. I even tried spiking a few times. Jumping up and hitting the ball down with power felt pretty awesome, even if I missed a few times. We weren’t exactly pros, but we definitely had our moments!
All in all, it was a great day of volleyball. I rediscovered my love for the game, got some exercise, and spent some quality time with friends. Can’t wait to play again soon!
