Okay, so today I decided to get out of the house and do something fun – play some sand volleyball! I’ve played a bit in the past, but mostly just messing around with friends. Today, I wanted to actually get a bit more serious about it, you know, try to improve my game.

First, I found a local park with some sand volleyball courts. It was a beautiful day, sunny, not too hot, just perfect for some outdoor activity. I got there early to make sure I could grab a court. Once I secured a spot, I started with a simple warm-up.
- Jogging: Did a few laps around the court to get my blood flowing.
- Stretching: Focused on my legs, arms, and shoulders. Gotta be flexible out there!
After the warm-up, I started practicing some basic drills. Passing was first. I tossed the ball up and practiced bumping it back to myself. I tried to focus on getting under the ball and using my forearms to control it. It was rough at first, but I slowly got the hang of it. Felt kind of awkward at times, ngl.
Next up was setting. This one’s a bit trickier. I practiced tossing the ball up and using my fingertips to set it high and soft. I imagined setting it for a teammate to spike. My sets were all over the place in the beginning, but I kept at it, and they started getting a bit more consistent. It took some patience, but I was determined.
Then I moved on to serving. I really wanted to work on my overhand serve. I stood at the back line, tossed the ball up, and tried to hit it with some power and accuracy over the net. Most of my serves were either too weak or way out of bounds. It was pretty frustrating, but I just kept telling myself to keep practicing. Every now and then, I’d get a good one in, and that felt great.
Playing Some Games
After a while, some other people showed up, and we decided to play some games. We split into teams and just started playing. It was pretty casual, but still competitive. We rallied back and forth, diving for digs and trying to set up some spikes. It was a total blast, even though I messed up a bunch of times.
I definitely realized how much harder it is to play in an actual game than just practicing drills. You have to react quickly, communicate with your teammates, and adjust to different situations. I got a little winded at times, but I pushed myself to keep going. The sand was hot, the sun was beating down, but it was so much fun.

We played for a few hours, and by the end, I was totally exhausted but also really energized. I felt like I’d actually learned something and improved my skills a bit. My whole body was sore, but it was a good kind of sore. Plus, I got a nice tan, which is always a bonus.
All in all, it was a great day of sand volleyball. I can’t wait to go back and play again soon. Maybe next time I’ll even try to join a league or something. Who knows! I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a fun and challenging workout. Just be prepared to get sandy!
