Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “pro volleyball game” idea for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey! I started with basically zero knowledge, just a vague concept in my head.

First Steps… and Stumbles
First, I downloaded a game engine.I won’t bore you with the details of which one, just know it took me a solid afternoon to get it up and running. I spent hours just clicking around, trying to figure out the basics. I felt completely lost, to be honest.
My initial plan was super ambitious: realistic physics, amazing graphics, the whole nine yards. Yeah, that didn’t last long. I quickly realized I needed to scale things way back.
Getting (Slightly) More Organized
I started watching some tutorials. There a ton of videos, that helped a lot.I learned about things, which was a total game-changer. Before that, I was just randomly placing stuff and hoping for the best.
- I created a basic court. Just a flat plane, really.
- I added some simple shapes for the players – think blocky, stick-figure-ish things.
- I tried to get the ball to bounce. This was… harder than it looked.
The ball kept clipping through the floor, or flying off into infinity. It was a mess. I spent days tweaking values, trying to get the physics right. Eventually, I managed to get it sort of working. It wasn’t pretty, but hey, it bounced!
Baby Steps, But Progress!
Next, I focused on getting the players to move. This involved more wrestling.I finally figured out how to make them move, * was super clunky, but it was something.
I added a super basic “hit” animation. It looked ridiculous, like the players were swatting at flies, but it technically worked. The ball would actually go in the direction they were hitting, which I considered a major victory.

It’s… Playable? (Sort Of)
After weeks of messing around, I had something that resembled a very, very basic volleyball game. The players were ugly, the animations were janky, and the physics were questionable at best. But you could actually hit the ball back and forth! I even managed to get a simple scoring system working.
It’s nowhere near a “pro” level game, obviously. It’s more like a “barely amateur” game. But I built it from scratch, and I learned a ton in the process. I’m actually kind of proud of my ugly little volleyball game.
So It’s an end for today.I will keep going, I think.
