Okay, so I’ve been on this retro gaming kick lately, and I remembered how much I used to love my Game Boy Advance. I got to thinking, “Were there any volleyball games on the GBA?” I mean, it’s a simple enough concept, right? Bump, set, spike, all that jazz.

So, I fired up my trusty emulator – gotta love those! – and started digging. I went through a bunch of GBA game lists, mostly finding the usual suspects: your Marios, your Zeldas, your Pokemons. Lots of platformers, RPGs, the standard stuff.
I kept scrolling, scrolling, scrolling… and honestly, I was starting to think maybe there just weren’t any. I mean, it’s not exactly the most popular sport for video games, is it?
- I checked some forums, and people were asking the same question. “Any good GBA volleyball?” Not a lot of answers.
- I even tried searching for “beach volleyball” thinking maybe that would be more popular. Still nothing!
Finally, after what felt like forever, I stumbled upon it. Okay, it’s technically not “Volleyball,” but Super Dodge Ball. I read the description. Players can execute powerful serves and spikes and special moves. Well,It’s basically volleyball with extra steps. It’s got the over-the-net action, the spiking, the… well, dodging, I guess. It’s close enough! I’m counting it.
I downloaded Super Dodge Ball’s ROM, and I gotta tell you, I will play it later.
