Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this Neversoft thing, whatever that is. Sounds like one of them fancy city names to me.

Neversoft Entertainment, you say? Well, it was a bunch of folks makin’ them video games. Started way back in 1994, some fellers named Joel Jewett, Mick West, and Chris Ward, they got it goin’. Heard they were in California, Woodland Hills, to be exact. Fancy place, I bet. They weren’t always big, though.
- Started small, real small.
- Worked with some toy company at first, Playmates Toys.
- Made a game ’bout skeletons, Skeleton Warriors, they called it.
Then, things got a bit messy. They tried workin’ with other big names, Crystal Dynamics and Sony, but things didn’t pan out. Too much fightin’ amongst themselves, they say. Projects got canned. Waste of good time, if ya ask me.
But then, things started lookin’ up. They got themselves bought out by Activision in 1999. Big money, I reckon. That’s when they really started makin’ a name for themselves.
Now, here’s the thing they got famous for: Tony Hawk games. You know, that skateboardin’ fella? Yep, they made his games. Turned him into a big shot, and made Neversoft famous too. All them young folks, rowdy and full of energy, makin’ games ’bout jumpin’ and flippin’ on them skateboards.
They wasn’t just about skateboards, though. They got into music games too, somethin’ called Guitar Hero. Let ya pretend you’re a rock star, strummin’ and pickin’ on a plastic guitar. Folks seemed to like it, for a while anyways.
I heard one of them Guitar Hero games, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock in 2010, it didn’t do so well. People didn’t like it much, and it didn’t sell good neither. That was kinda the end of the road for Neversoft and Guitar Hero, seems like.

They put some extra stuff in them games too. Videos of folks movin’ around for the game, behind-the-scenes they call it. And videos of bands playin’ music. Guess folks like that kinda thing. Me? I’d rather watch the chickens peckin’ in the yard.
So, Neversoft, they were a big deal in the game world. Made games ’bout skateboardin’ and rock and roll. But like all things, I guess they came to an end. Can’t say I know much about it, but that’s the gist of it, as far as I can tell. Just a bunch of folks makin’ games, some good, some not so good. Life’s like that, ain’t it?
Sounds like they was important for a spell there, though. All them Tony Hawk games and Guitar Hero games, that’s somethin’. Made a lot of folks happy, I reckon, even if I don’t quite get it myself. Kids these days with their fancy gadgets and their buttons and screens. Back in my day, we made our own fun, you know? But that’s a story for another time.
Anyhow, that’s what I know about Neversoft. A game company that did some good things, then kinda faded away. Happens to the best of ’em, I guess. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
So what did Neversoft make? Lemme see if I can remember. Skateboard games with that Tony Hawk fella and then them guitar games where ya pretend to be a rock star. That’s about it, far as I know. They was good at it though, made a real name for themselves.
Seemed like a bunch of hardworking folks, even if their games was a bit noisy for my taste. But hey, to each their own, I always say. Can’t fault a fella for makin’ a livin’, even if it is by makin’ games about jumpin’ on skateboards and bangin’ on plastic guitars. At least they was doin’ somethin’ they loved, I reckon.
