Heading Out for Some Volleyball
So, the other day, I was looking for something different to do. Felt a bit stuck in the usual routine, you know? A buddy mentioned there was a UCLA volleyball game happening, and I thought, why not? Haven’t been to a college sports event in ages. Decided right then to just go for it.

Getting there wasn’t too bad. I checked the schedule online first, just to make sure I had the right time and place. Pauley Pavilion, right on campus. Figured driving might be a hassle with parking, so I just hopped on a bus that dropped me off nearby. A short walk later, and I was right there. Didn’t bother with tickets beforehand, just walked up and bought one at the entrance. Pretty easy, actually.
Inside Pauley Pavilion
Walking into Pauley was pretty cool. It’s a big place, lots of history there. You could feel the energy even before the game started. Found a decent seat, not too high up. People were milling around, getting snacks, finding their spots. Lots of blue and gold, of course. The student section was already making some noise.
The Game Experience
Okay, so the game itself started. I gotta say, college volleyball is intense! Way faster than I remembered. The players were diving all over the place, spikes were super loud. It was pretty exciting to watch live.
- The rallies were sometimes crazy long. Back and forth, everyone holding their breath.
- The crowd really got into it, especially on big points. Lots of cheering and stomping.
- There were a couple of players who were just awesome to watch, really athletic.
- Even the breaks were entertaining, with the band playing and stuff.
Honestly, I wasn’t even following the score too closely half the time, just enjoying the action and the atmosphere. It’s just different being there compared to watching on TV. You feel the hits, you hear the calls, you’re part of the crowd’s reaction. It was a close game too, which made it even better.
Wrapping Up the Evening
After the final point, everyone cheered, win or lose (I think UCLA won, but honestly, the specific result wasn’t the main thing for me). Filing out with the crowd was smooth enough. Hopped back on the bus, feeling pretty good. It was just a fun, simple night out. Did something different, saw some great athletes compete, soaked up some campus energy. Definitely worth doing. Might have to catch another game sometime soon.
