So, today was a big day – I played my first ever game of volleyball! I’ve always watched it and thought it looked like fun, so I finally decided to give it a shot.

Getting Started
First, I had to find a place to play. I did some searching online and found a local group that meets up for casual games in the park. I was pretty nervous, not knowing anyone, but I sent a message anyway.
Luckily, they were super welcoming! They told me to just show up and they’d help me learn the ropes. So, this morning, I packed a water bottle, put on some athletic shoes, and headed to the park.
The Game
When I got there, a few people were already setting up the net. They waved me over and introduced themselves. Everyone was really chill and friendly, which immediately put me at ease. A girl named Sarah was the first one I introduce to.
- Someone showed me the basics: how to bump, set, and serve.
- My first few serves… well, let’s just say they didn’t exactly go over the net.
- But hey, that’s how you learn, right?
We were divided into two groups, and to be fair, I was a little worried, and I didn’t know what should do in the field.
Then, the game started! It was so much faster and more intense than I expected.

- I totally whiffed a few times, sending the ball flying in the wrong direction or straight into the net.
- I did manage to get a few decent bumps and even set the ball for someone else to spike once!
- It was a great feeling when the ball was flying over the net, and I ran with my groupmate.
It felt amazing when I actually connected with the ball and sent it in the right direction.
Final
We played for a couple of hours, switching teams and just having a good time. I was exhausted by the end, but in a good way.
- I definitely learned a lot, and even though I was probably the worst player there, nobody made me feel bad about it.
- I’m going to take a good shower and go bed, and I can’t wait to play the game next week.
It was a great workout, and I met some cool people. I’m definitely going back next week!
