Okay, so, today I wanted to mess around with this “Spike Volleyball” game on PC. I’d heard some mixed things about it, but hey, I love volleyball, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

First things first, I had to get the game. I launched Steam and searched for “Spike Volleyball.” Found it pretty easily, and it wasn’t too expensive, so I bought it and started the download. While it was downloading, I did a quick search to see what people were saying about the game.
Some reviews were pretty harsh, talking about bugs and glitches and a not-so-great career mode. But others seemed to enjoy it, mentioning the thrill of the sport and all that. Guess I’d have to see for myself.
Install
- Waited for the download to finish.
- Clicked “Install,” and it was ready in no time.
- Launch the Game
- Double-clicked the game icon.
First time playing, it seemed… okay. The graphics weren’t anything to write home about, but they were decent enough. I jumped into a quick match to get a feel for the controls. Serving was straightforward, just a matter of timing your button press. Receiving was a bit trickier. You had to position your player just right to get a good pass. I tried different ways to play, such as hitting a volleyball spike.
My Initial Steps
- Step 1: Stepped forward with my right foot while swinging my arms back.
- Step 2: Took another step with my left foot, ending with feet shoulder-width apart and knees bent.
- Step 3: Swung my arms forward and jumped up.
Setting was where I struggled the most. It felt really clunky trying to get the ball to the right spot for a spike. Speaking of spiking, that was actually pretty satisfying when you timed it right. It’s all about jumping at the right moment and hitting the ball at its peak.
I played a few more matches, and yeah, I started to see some of the issues people were talking about. There were definitely some weird glitches, like players warping across the court or the ball going through the net. And the AI? Let’s just say they weren’t the sharpest tools in the shed. Sometimes they’d make great plays, other times they’d just stand there like they’d forgotten how to play.

I decided to try out the career mode, hoping it would be a bit more engaging. But honestly, it was pretty bare-bones. You just play matches, earn some points, and… that’s about it. There wasn’t much of a story or any real sense of progression. After the basic tutorial, I felt I had mastered the basic skills of volleyball and experienced all the thrills of it.
So, my final verdict? “Spike Volleyball” is a mixed bag. It’s got some fun moments, especially when you pull off a great spike or a diving save. But the bugs, the clunky controls, and the lack of depth in the career mode definitely hold it back. If you’re a die-hard volleyball fan, you might get some enjoyment out of it. But for everyone else, it’s probably not worth the money.
Maybe I’ll stick to watching real volleyball for now. Or perhaps try to find some mods, that could improve the gameplay. But for today, that’s it for my “Spike Volleyball” adventure.
