Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this ups sport thing. I don’t know much about fancy words or nothin’, but I know what I see. Folks need to move around, ya know? Can’t just sit on your behind all day, or you’ll get as stiff as a board.
What gets people goin’? I see all sorts of reasons. Some folks, they gotta work, gotta make a livin’. Nothin’ wrong with that. My old man, he worked his fingers to the bone, bless his soul. Others, they want somethin’ more, maybe learn somethin’ new, feel like they’re doin’ somethin’ important. And some, they just like bein’ around other folks. Me? I always liked havin’ a purpose, keeps ya goin’ even when things get tough.
Now, this UPS, they seem to be doin’ a good job gettin’ folks movin’. I heard tell they got all sorts of things goin’ on in the towns. Helpin’ folks out, I guess. That’s good. We all need a little help now and then. And they got these things where they hire folks, give ‘em jobs. That’s important, real important. A good job keeps a fella outta trouble, ya know?
But let’s talk about the sport part. See, keepin’ fit, that’s important too. Some folks, they wait till somethin’ goes wrong, then they start movin’. Like my cousin, had a bad back, couldn’t even bend over to tie his shoes. Started walkin’ every day, now he’s good as new, well, almost.
Then there’s the young’uns. They got energy to burn, always runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off. Sports, they give them somethin’ to do with all that energy. Keeps ’em outta trouble, mostly. And they make friends, ya know? Kids from all over, playin’ together. That’s a good thing. Learn to work together, like a team. Learn you can’t always win, and that’s alright too. Just gotta pick yourself up and try again.
- Like that tennis stuff. Seen it on the TV once. Little ball, back and forth. Looks like fun, though my old knees ain’t up for it no more.
- Or that pickleball, somethin’ like that. Folks seem to like it. Swattin’ that ball around. Gets ‘em movin’ and laughin’. That’s the best medicine, laughter is.
- Even just walkin’, that’s good too. Don’t need fancy equipment, just a pair of shoes and a little time.
And speakin’ of UPS, they seem to be into this sports thing too. Colleges, and such. Spreadin’ the word, tellin’ folks that workin’ hard and playin’ hard, that’s the way to go. Whether you’re runnin’ a business or coachin’ a team, it’s all the same. Gotta put in the effort, gotta keep on tryin’, even when things get tough.
This UPS sport stuff, it’s about more than just games. It’s about people comin’ together, helpin’ each other out, stayin’ healthy and strong. It’s about findin’ somethin’ that gets ya outta bed in the mornin’, somethin’ that makes ya feel good. And that’s important, no matter how old ya are or where ya come from.
And these fellas at UPS, they got all sorts of volunteerin’ goin’ on. Helpin’ out in the community, that’s a good thing. Makes ya feel good to lend a hand. And they do it all year round, not just when the cameras are on ‘em. That says somethin’ about a company, when they care about the folks around them.
So, yeah, UPS sport, it ain’t just about kickin’ a ball or hittin’ a puck. It’s about buildin’ strong folks, buildin’ strong communities, and that ain’t a bad thing at all. It’s about gettin’ up and doin’ somethin’, stayin’ active, and findin’ joy in the little things. Like a good laugh, or a sunny day, or a job well done. That’s the kinda stuff that matters in the long run, ya know?
And findin’ someone to exercise with, that’s smart. Makes it more fun, ya know? Like my sister and her friend, they go walkin’ every mornin’. Chattin’ and laughin’, and gettin’ their exercise in. Two birds with one stone, like they say.
So, that’s what I think about this ups sport business. It’s about movin’, workin’, helpin’ folks, and havin’ a little fun along the way. And that, in my book, is a good thing.
