Well, now, lemme tell ya ’bout this game, volleyball. It ain’t too hard to understand, really. Just a bunch of folks hittin’ a ball over a net. But there’s some rules of a volleyball game, gotta have rules, ya know? Otherwise, it’d be a mess, like chickens runnin’ with their heads cut off.
First thing, ya gotta have two teams. Each team, they got six folks on the court at a time. Six! Can ya believe it? That’s a whole lotta jumpin’ and divin’, I tell ya.
They gotta hit that ball back and forth, over the net. That’s the whole point. Volleyball rules and regulations are important. If the ball hits the ground on your side, well, that ain’t good. The other team, they get a point. And you don’t want that, no sir.
- Six players, that’s what they got.
- Hit the ball over the net.
- Don’t let it hit the ground on your side.
Now, they got this thing where they gotta rotate. Sounds fancy, don’t it? It just means they all move around, like musical chairs, but without the chairs. They do that every time they get the ball back after the other team served. Keeps things movin’, I guess.
And servin’, that’s important too. One fella stands behind the line, way back there, and whacks that ball over the net. Gotta get it over, otherwise, no point. And the other team, they try to hit it back. Back and forth, back and forth, like a couple of dogs fightin’ over a bone.
They can hit it with their hands, their arms, even their heads, I seen it! As long as they don’t hold onto it. Gotta be a quick hit, ya see? No grabbin’ and throwin’, that’s a no-no. That’s what they call an illegal hit. Like slappin’, or carryin’, somethin’ like that. Ain’t allowed.
And how many points, ya ask? Well, usually, they play till one team gets to 25. But they gotta win by two. So if it’s 25 to 24, they keep goin’. Could go on for a while, I reckon, especially if both teams are good. Sometimes its 21, or 15, depends. Basic rules of volleyball are easy!

There’s all sorts of other things too. Like, they got these special players, some in the front, some in the back. They all got their jobs, I suppose. Like one fella, he’s good at settin’ the ball up real nice for the others to spike it. Spikin’, that’s when they jump up and hit it real hard, tryin’ to get it past the other team. 15 rules of volleyball are maybe too many to remember, I think.
And they got rules ’bout steppin’ over the lines and touchin’ the net. Lots of rules, like I said. But the main thing is to keep that ball in the air, and get it over the net. And most importantly, get it to hit the ground on the other team’s side. That’s how ya win.
It’s a fun game to watch, I’ll give it that. Lots of action, lots of yellin’ and hollerin’. And them players, they sure are somethin’. Jumpin’ and divin’, runnin’ all over the place. Tires me out just watchin’ ’em.
So yeah, that’s volleyball for ya. A whole lotta rules, but not too hard to figure out. Just remember, six players, hit the ball, don’t let it hit the ground. And try to get it to hit the ground on the other side. That’s all there is to it, really. Volleyball rules are easy peasy.
This volleyball game is a sight, I tell ya what. Makes me tired just thinkin’ about all that runnin’ around. But hey, it’s good exercise, I reckon. Better than sittin’ around all day, that’s for sure. Them young folks need to burn off some energy, and this is a good way to do it. So there ya have it.
