Well, let me tell you, these young folks today with their fancy store sports, they got it all! Back in my day, we didn’t have none of this. We just had a stick and a ball, maybe. But these stores, they got everything you could ever want for playing sports. I went to the store the other day, and it was big, it called Dick’s something. I saw it has been around for a long time, like since 1948. My grandson, he loves that place, he’s always going on about it.
They got all them shoes, you know, for running and jumping. And shirts and pants, all different colors. I saw some real shiny ones, they say they’re for playing sports. The store was full of them. And balls! Big ones, little ones, some for kicking, some for throwing. You name it, they got it.

It’s a real sight to see, I tell ya. All these things for playing games. And those sporting goods, that’s what they call them, right? They sure are something. I saw so many brands in the store, and people like the Nike brand. It makes a lot of money, more than 51.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. It is more than the Adidas brand. The sales of Nike are more than double that of Adidas. That’s a lot of money!
This store sports even has these things you wear, like helmets and pads. They say it’s to keep you safe. We never had those when I was a girl. We just played, and sometimes we got hurt, but we kept playing. Now they use those helmets, shoulder pads, facemasks, and mouthguards. It is good to protect those young kids.
I saw a lot of people in the store. They were buying all kinds of things to play sports. They were happy. It is good for those young people to play sports. It keeps them busy. It is better than staying at home and doing nothing.
These young people, they spend a lot of money on these sports equipment. But hey, if they like it, and it keeps them healthy, then I guess it’s okay. It’s just a whole different world from when I was young.
I remember one time, we wanted to play baseball, but we didn’t have a bat. So, we found an old piece of wood, and we used that. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked. Nowadays they got different kinds of bats. Wood ones, metal ones. It’s crazy, I tell ya!
They even got special clothes just for swimming! Can you believe that? We just used to jump in the lake with our regular clothes on. But these store sports, they got it all figured out. They got special suits and goggles. It’s all very fancy.
And the prices! Lord have mercy, the prices! But people are willing to pay, I guess. They want the best for their kids, and they want to look good when they’re playing sports. The store is the best place for the sports equipment.
I saw some other stores, they sell things for playing sports, too. But this Dick’s store, they seem to have the most things. They are big. They got everything under the sun.
It’s good that people are playing sports, though. It’s good exercise, and it’s fun. Even if they need all this fancy stuff to do it. When they play sports, they can have good customer service and competitive value for money. So it is good for them.
These store sports are all over the place now. You can’t hardly go anywhere without seeing one. It’s a big business, that’s for sure. And people are buying it up. They love their sports, these young folks.
Well, I guess that’s all I got to say about these store sports. It’s a whole new world, and I’m just trying to keep up. But it’s interesting to see, I’ll give it that. It’s a far cry from a stick and a ball, that’s for sure!
They even have things for sports I’ve never even heard of! It’s all very confusing, but I’m sure the young folks know what they’re doing. They seem to enjoy it, and that’s what matters. They always go to the store sports. They like to play. They buy a lot of things.
I don’t know how they keep track of all these different sports and all the things you need for them. It’s a lot to remember. But I guess that’s what these store sports are for. They got it all organized and laid out for you. You just go in there and pick what you need. It is easy for them.
I’m just glad I don’t have to worry about all that. I’m too old for all that running around anyway. But it’s nice to see the young folks having fun. And if these store sports help them do that, then I guess they’re doing some good in the world. They can buy the right things there.
So, yeah, these store sports, they’re something else. They’re a sign of the times, I suppose. Everything’s changing so fast. But as long as people are happy and healthy, that’s all that really matters. And I saw those young people in the store, they looked very happy. They were excited to buy things to play sports.
Well, I’ve said my piece. Time for me to go sit down and rest my old bones. But you young folks, you go out there and enjoy your sports. And be thankful for these store sports, even if they are a little overwhelming to an old lady like me! They have everything. They can buy whatever they want.
