I wanted to play some volleyball outside with some friends. It was time to find a suitable ball for outdoor use. So I started to figure out what to look for in an outdoor volleyball.

I realized it’s not so simple. There are a lot of things to consider! You gotta think about how the ball feels when you hit it, and how long it will last. Will it bounce right? And, of course, the size and weight matter, right? Plus, you don’t want it flying all over the place unpredictably.
First, I started checking out different volleyballs at the store. I noticed some were way softer than others. It seems like the touch of the ball is a big deal. Some felt like hitting a brick, while others were kinda mushy. I wanted something in between, you know? Something that feels good when you bump, set, or spike it.
Next, I started to squeeze them. Yeah, I probably looked weird doing it, but I wanted to see how tough they were. Some felt like they’d pop if you looked at them wrong. Others seemed like they could handle a beating. I wanted something that could survive being slammed into the ground or maybe even hitting a tree branch by mistake.
- The touch of the ball: A good volleyball should feel comfortable to hit.
- Durability: You want a ball that can withstand outdoor conditions.
- Bounce quality: It should bounce consistently and predictably.
- Size and weight: It should meet the standard size and weight for volleyballs.
- Stability in the air: The ball shouldn’t veer off course erratically.
Then, I tried bouncing them a little, trying to get a feel for the bounce. Some were kinda dead, and others were way too bouncy. I was looking for that sweet spot where it bounces just right, not too high, not too low. And also, I found that playing beach volleyball is quite interesting. It is a team sport played by two teams of two to four players on a sand court divided by a net, similar to indoor volleyball.
My Choice
After checking out a bunch of balls, I finally found one that seemed like a good fit. It felt good in my hands, seemed pretty tough, and the bounce was just right. Plus, it didn’t seem like it would fly off into the next county with every hit. I snatched it and bought it.
Then I took it to the park with some friends. We played for hours, and the ball held up great! It felt good to hit, the bounce was consistent, and it flew pretty straight. We had a blast! It turned out to be a good buy. I think this ball will last us a long time.

Finding the right outdoor volleyball isn’t as easy as it looks, but it’s worth it if you find the right one. Just remember to think about how it feels, how tough it is, and how it bounces.
